Bike Routes
Starting from Aber Wrac’h

The bike routes starting from Aber Wrac’h are numerous and varied, offering a multitude of options to discover this beautiful region between land and sea. Located at the crossroads between the Abers bike route and the V45 (coast), Aber Wrac’h is the perfect starting point for your cycling adventures. Whether you are an experienced cyclist or prefer leisurely family rides, Xavier offers routes tailored to your desires and abilities. Among all the possibilities, here are his four favorite circuits.

Abers cycle route:
35 km from Landéda to Brest

Route Description
This beautiful bike route of approximately 35 km (one way) follows, for most of the journey, the old railway line of the “train patates,” which use to connect the port of Aber Wrac’h (Landéda) to Brest.

After crossing Lannilis and the RD13 roundabout, the route becomes particularly pleasant after Lannilis (km 6), continuing to Lambézellec, where you encounter the busier and steeper streets of Brest until reaching the SNCF train station.

The landscapes and surroundings are particularly enjoyable on three sections of the route, which have been converted into greenways: between Lannilis and Plouvien when following the Aber Benoît, between Plouvien and Plabennec, and finally between Plabennec and Gouesnou when crossing the Lanorven wetland.

Although it is a shared route, the section between Gouesnou and Lambézellec is also very pleasant and comfortable.

Xavier’s Recommendation
In Plouvien, I recommend leaving the bike route at the village to head towards St Jaoua (Bourg Blanc road, 2 km). It’s a beautiful site with an enclosure, and there’s a picnic area available.

A group visit can be organized upon request. Call the town hall, which will connect you with the Bual San Jaoua association. The site completed a three-year renovation on May 9, 2023. It’s magnificent, and be sure to see the fountain as well.

For a long time, a photo of the St Jaoua enclosure was the cover photo of the Hachette guide to Brittany.

Navigating through these places allows you to feel the calm and freedom that the sea provides. The gentle lapping of the water, the whisper of the wind, and the sea spray accompany you throughout your adventure. Whether you seek tranquility or discovery, our routes promise unforgettable moments.

Port de l’Aber Wrac’h to Aber Benoît :
16 km along the water and through the countryside

Route Description
This 16 km route overlooks the mouth of Aber Wrac’h, offering exceptional views of the Archipelago. Easy and accessible, it is perfect for families and friends looking to enjoy a day by the sea. The walk starts at the port of Aber Wrac’h and follows the V45 to Aber Benoît, with numerous opportunities to stop and admire the scenery.
Make a detour on this route to enjoy the Presqu’île de Sainte-Marguerite, a nature reserve and a kite surfing spot where you can rest and enjoy an idyllic setting. This route is ideal for a relaxing day, with breaks in the dunes or by the Abers.

Xavier’s Favorite Viewpoint
I recommend heading down to Port du Vil (not included in the cycle route V45) – you will have a beautiful view from the Vil quay. Park your bikes and take the GR trail to the point. It’s an ideal spot for contemplation and photography enthusiasts.

Aber Wrac’h port to Plouguerneau :
35 km between ports and beaches

Route Description
The 35 km route from Port de l’Aber Wrac’h to Plouguerneau is a picturesque ride that takes you through the charming ports, chapels, and beaches of the region. It’s a perfect itinerary for families and groups of friends looking to explore the hidden treasures of the Breton coast.

Along the way, you will discover places such as the port of Lilia and Kelerdut beach. The route is relatively easy, though it does include some hills, and offers many opportunities for picnic stops and swims in the crystal-clear waters. The Bac an Treizh allows you to cross by boat during the summer season with your bike: from the port of Aber Wrac’h to Perros, so take advantage of it!

Xavier’s Favorite Picnic Spot
Xavier’s favorite picnic spot is at Saint-Cava beach. With its turquoise waters and fine sand, it’s the perfect place for a lunch break. The beach is also an excellent spot for families with children, offering safe play and relaxation.
